We shoot steel 3's (mostly because we got a deal on a case) so 2's or 3's are good. As to chokes, steel shot shell design has changed slightly since its inception but the basic rule of thumb was If you shoot lead through a full choke and steel through a modified choke made for lead, you get about the same pattern. The same is true for the more open chokes so the pattern for lead through a modified choke is similar to steel through an improved cylinder choke. Guns and loads may vary. There are also steel choke tubes for the screw in chokes. My suggestion is take your gun out and pattern it and find out. I just put in imp cylinder and modified in my double before I bought steel chokes.
