I dont like to SPAM, but I think there are some really interesting things being said about NR restrictions on another board. Take a look.

What strikes me is the nearly universal support residents have for the caps,(much like the attitude north of the line for the trespass law) as well as the encouraging things people have to say about preffering a great hunt periodically rather than a good or marginal hunt every year. Somehow people have been getting the idea that this is all about access. The people that I talk with are much more concerned about the quality of the waterfowling experiance. I have personally had 3 people I was talking to on the phone say they wish we would cap them. Pheasants are a seperate issue, but this waterfowl question is not about access. Its quality. Tom

FALL AFTERNOON SCOUTING FOR FEEDING WATERFOWL. 5000 MALLARDS USING BARLEY STUBLE. POSTED LAND LEASED PLEASE PAY TO HUNT, RESIDENT ,NON-RESIDENT MONEY WELOCOME. 500 CANADA'S FEEDING ON NEIGHBORS LAND. CALLED TO ASKED TO HUNT, CAN'T HAVE THE LAND DAY LEASED OUT. DRIVE FOR 57 MILES BACK WHERE YOU HUNTED IN THE 70'S WATER AND BIRDS ALL OVER. EVERTHING POSTED. WITHER LEASED OR TO KEEP TH GUIDES AND OUTFITTERS OFF. STOP INTO ASK PERMISSON GET CHEWED OUT BY STRESSED FARMER BECAUSE HE CANNOT GET ANY WORK DONE BEING BOTHERED BY HUNTERS ALL THE TIME. THESE THINGS ALL HAPPENED THIS FALL. THE ISSUE IS ACCESS.

WE ARE NOT QUITE THERE YET BUT IF WE DO NOT PUT SOME LIMITATIONS IN PLACE WE WILL HAVE 30% OR MORE OF ALL
LAND LEASED TO FEE HUNTING WITHIN THE NEXT 5 YEARS. tHE CURRENT NUMBERS ARE ESTIMATES THAT SAY 3 % TO 12 % IS ALREADY LEASED AT 12 % THAT IS OVER 5 MIL. ACRES. WE ALL KNOW THAT THIS IS THE PRIME HUNTING GROUNDS. IF THEY WANT THE QUALITY OF WATERFOWLING EXPERIENCE THEN I CAN DIRECT THEM TO SOME VERY GOOD PLACES TO SET UP DECOYS AND LAY IN THE FIELD THEN PICK THEM BACK UP. THEY WON'T NEED A DOG OR SHELLS FOR THERE ARE NOT ANY BIRDS IN THE AREA TO COME TO THE DECOYS, UNLESS YOUR FRIENDS NEED ACCESS TO LAND THAT HAS WATER, AND WATERFOWL IN AND AROUND IT WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO HARVEST A DUCK OR GOOSE, FOR IT TO BE A QUAILITY HUNT.

PONDER THE THOUGHT OF HAVING TO PAY TO TAKE YOUR CHILD ON THIER HIS FIRST HUNT AND HAVE A TIME LIMIT YOU COULD SET IN A DUCK BLIND, OR NOT BE ABLE TO LET THEM EXPLORE THE EDGES BETWEEN THE WATER AND LAND FOR AQUTIC SHELLS OR WILDLIFE FOOT PRINTS BECAUSE SOMEONE ELSE IS IN A BLIND 40 YARDS AWAY ON A PUBLIC HUNTING GOUND HOLLERING TO GET IN THE WEEDS YOUR GONNA SCARE THE DUCKS, THEN HAVE THE PERSON THE OTHER BLIND 40 YARDS AWAY SKY BUST AS THE DUCKS ARE COMING INTO LOOK AT THE DECOYS. QUALITY HUNTING AT IT'S BEST.
