Well, me and GooseBuster just got back from about a 500-mile, 14-hour journey across ND looking for good goose concentrations (basically, sunup to sundown).

The numbers are down this year in most areas, and almost void in others. The trends I'm noticing this August, that differs from most, is that the birds are bunched up. Most years you'll see 30 here, 40 there. But yesterday where we found geese....we found a lot of them.

I've noticed less geese this year than last as well. I saw a lot of them bunched up last year as well, but agree that there's a lot less smaller flocks vs. last year. After scouting all week this rain we got threw me a curveball...of the half dozen fields close to town that I was watching they all were just empty yesterday? Luckily I was able to relocate them in a few fields today (one with over 200 in it), all of them are using the sheet water as a roost and not even leaving the field. Hopefully they don't change their patterns again before Sunday...it's always interesting.
