Do you need to be incapable of reason to push electric cars. I listen to electric advertise how clean electric heat is for your house. Really? I have electric off peak, but I'm not so foolish that I don't understand that somewhere they are burning coal to produce my electricity. It either has emotions at your tail pipe, or a smoke stack 200 miles away.

This is 100% accurate. If the "green" crowd is honest. They would recommend NUCLEAR or be on board with more nuclear plants. More efficient, less pollution, etc. It isn't the same nuclear that people think of with all the "sludge" and what not.

Here is something many people dont understand or want to talk about. With electric vehicles.... THERE ISNT ENOUGH CHARGING STATIONS. So until they can figure that out. You average range is about 300 miles. I have personally in any given month will travel more than 300 miles per a day going on appointments. I dont have time to stop and "charge" for 20 minutes. Or ask a client... Hey can I "hook up" while we have our meeting. There are many others just like me on this. So an electric car beyond the price of the vehicle makes no sense.

Lets not also forget how they get the Cobalt for the batteries. The mines.... yeah.

Huntin1.....

EXACTLY. I can't remember but what company had the CEO in the live interview that didn't know that electricity for the EV came from coal energy plants and what not. I mean she looked like a deer in the headlights when asked that.

It is amazing that people in general don't know or don't care to know how things actually work. You know they think meat actually comes from the grocery store and not people raising animals.

Today we have adults that can tell you everything about movie stars, singers, bands, movies, and woke, but they are intellectually brain dead. Meet a new person and to start a conversation it's usually how about those (fill in sports team of your choice). I can imagine the look I woukd get if I asked what's your favorite long range cartridge.😇
The average American today is book smart and world stupid. One of my pet peaves is some brain dead, liberal (but I repeat myself) vegetarian telling me you can feed more people on an acre with wheat than beef. I want to see that wheat crop on an acre sitting at a 30 degree angle at 9000 feet elevation, with a one ton rock every 20 feet. Fools, they truely are thought challenged.

Family Annoyed When Replacement Batteries Costs More Than Electric Car (msn.com)

This is another issue with EV's. This article talks about a 2014 EV someone bought for $11K and the battery "died" and now they need to replace it. IT COSTS $14K to replace it. PLUS the company doesn't make that car anymore so that battery isn't available. So we have that issue as well.

Now we all know Auto Companies change things up ALOT from model to model. What will keep them from making changes or discontinuing vehicles every 10 years or so and making used vehicle obsolete. What will that do for waste? Scrap yards? Used vehicle sales? etc???

Just something else that isn't discussed when people talk about EV's.

Now I will say that we are all moving towards EV's to a certain extent, and I am not knocking anyone who wants them or buys them. BUT THE TECHNOLOCY AND INFRASTRUCTURE isn't ready yet for the massive switch that this administration and GREEN people are implementing and wanting.

Some things to consider:

Charging ports: Is there enough charging ports at hotels, restaurants, "gas" stations, etc. Because if you are on the road you might need to stop and "charge" up... where can you do that? Can hotels cover charging 200 vehicles? How about parking ramps? Parking Lots? You know charge up while you are at work or on flight... will an airport park and fly charge your vehicle while you are gone? I mean will your batter die down when you take that winter 10 day trip to Jamacia and when you come back to the airport in Minneapolis or some other cold spot in January... will your car start or not? Will your batter be drained down so you only have 50 miles left but you live 200 from the airport? Where could you go to charge it?

The power draw on the power grid: Right now there are black outs and power outages because of people running AC units.... now add in EV drawing on that same power grid. Let alone the power grid mainly runs off of Fossil Fuels.

WASTE: there are warehouses full of dead EV batteries. What will they do with them? Sidenote... same goes for turbine blades and what not. There are "bone yards" full of these things. Now granted they need to find a use for them or how to recycle them. BUT NOT THERE YET!

Parts: Batteries for EV's right now are hard to come by and not many people manufacture them. The main country right now is CHINA....... might say something about this administrations wanting more EV's and what not. You know the ties and what not. what about USED Cars... you know a huge market. So used EV's might become obsolete after 10 years. When in fact that there is a huge market for cars that are 20 years old or so. I am not talking about "classic cars"... I am talking about runners for people who cant afford or dont want the expense of a new car.

But if people want to have a real convo about EV's and GREEN there are many things that FIRST need to be in place before you go all in on them. You know like making the power grid able to accommodate all of this. Which right now IT CANT. Then look at the infrastructure for hotels, hospitals, gas stations, grocery stores, etc. All of them will be asking for Government help to put up ports and what not. How about writing new Building CODES to help support all of this. How about local energy needs by cities to help with the increased consumption of energy by EV's. How about helping or making more parts available and what not. Much of that should be done before the grand shift to EVs... let alone the actual technology needs to get better for the actual vehicles themselves.

I know that in 2021 this administration made a plan asking some of these same things about infrastructure and what not. BUT.. do you think that our government will work that fast to have it all done in 8 years?? You think globally things will be done that fast.... I dont. Have you seen how our government works.... LOL

Like I stated if people want to have an actual REAL Convo on this they need to discuss everything I mentioned above. But many dont. They just want to virtue signal.

I have a friend with a hybrid Rav4. When temperature gets into the negative they don't perform. At a minus 10 they hardly move the car.

Remember the old college physics classes. Reme.ber energy can not be created or destroyed, but can be converted. It takes X amount of coal to produce Y amount of electricity. Then it goes to transformers and some energy is lost to heat, but it must be converted or it will have limited transmission range. Still some is lost to heat in transmission. More is lost when its run through another transformer to change it into usable current. When the car is charged it has used more energy than a good mileage gas or diesel vehicle. They even have remote charging stations run by diesel generators. With the diesel used to generate an electric car how far woukd that diesel have taken a four cylinder diesel that gets 50 mpg? The whole thing is foolish with current technology.
