Has anyone here ever tried turning your own call? I tried doing a duck call last summer, but I couldn't get a good sound. I think I might try again this summer.

I know several call makers from the internet. I could get you their email address or phone #'s & if you tell em Fetch sent ya, they would be more than happy to advise you. Fowl Language calls - Doc Hull - Even old Dr Duck has tried to turn a call. I have a signed echo from Rick Dunn. But I know nothing about making them.

Well you can move the reed forwards or backwards, but you don't need to move it very far. Maybe a cm or even less. You can also try shaving the reed with a fingernail shaver. Just shave it evenly very little at a time and keep trying the call until you get what you want.
