You could wear one of those life vests they wear on Deadliest catch, not sure if itd help if you started filling the waders up it could be to much overall weight...?

 

I have the Dry-Plus waders and would have a hard time changing to anything else. As for the life vest - no idea, haven't heard out of a boat (with a motor) for years. So when i do hunt out of a boat, its on the floor or under the seat.

 

A couple things to remember. Neoprene waders are generally form fitting so the chance of "filling them up" and dragging you down is actually pretty slim. They also have some boyancy which doesn't negate the need for a life preserver but allows one to go with a more streamline design. The inflatables would probably allow the most flexibility and comfort. They can be had in auto or manual activated inflate.

 

A waist belt for your waders and a wading stick should go a long way towards keeping you dry and out of trouble

 

I use a inflates vest for duck and fly fishing for 5 yaers a manually one, so if it does get some rian it does not go off inflates. But do you do alot if jump shoting or in one past ? If you junp i think a inflates is the way or a one past life vest is good. Some if the boys may make fun at it, but if you need it (THERE IS SOME HELP). And you can have it in max 4 if you like it Cabela
