After this weekend I decided I needed longer stakes for my shells. They still wont be FBs but it should improve the look to get them higher off the ground. So I cranked up the tablesaw and cut my "sticks". After assembling a few "crosses" I wondered what would happen if I strung some 1/8" bungie cord through the stake holes on the deks and fastened it part way down the stake. Now these are older shells and the top hole isn't exactly at the balance point but once assembled they swung and moved seemingly perfect. Nice side to side and very little forward and back. It also slightly rounded the bottom giving just a touch more of a 5/8 body look. I will definately be testing a few this weekend. Hopefully the height and motion will help.
