National Debt When Jimmy Carter arrived at the White House: $660 billion.

Added during Carter's four years: $337 billion.

Added during Ronald Reagan's eight years: $1.6 trillion.

Added during George H. W. Bush's four years: $1.6 trillion.

Added during Bill Clinton's eight years: $1.5 trillion.

Added during George W. Bush's seven years, nine months: $4.5 trillion.

Portion of the $9.5 trillion added to the national debt during the past 31 years and seven months that came during Republican presidencies: $7.7 trillion.

Percentage of that $7.7 trillion added during George W. Bush's two terms: 58%.

Could somebody explain again what "fiscal conservative" means?

Well with W's outstanding record of running businesses into the ground it's amazing people thought he would be good to run the country. They are kicking themselves now as you can see with his approval ratings.

Simplistic stuff like this always sounds good

If anyone in this country was informed they would realize congress spends money not presidents, deficits are 95% dependent on congressional spending AND whats going on internationally such as wars ect.

IN General

Bush (both of them) are liberals for the most part, which makes the left attacks remarkable.

Clinton s record looks good because the Gingrich congress kept spending in control and the dot com boom brought in lots of revenue, if he got all the stuff he was in favor of, spending during his admistration would of been in huge deficit.

The Dems in congress would not reign in spending during Reagan and Bush Senior.

Suprisingly McCain has a great record on money management, no pork ever and usally very reluctant to piss away money. Its the only thing he has going for him.

If we end up with Obama, Pelosi, and Reid all with majorities the country will be financially destroyed, the very best thing we can hope for is a split government.

Frigging Bush never ever vetoed any spending no matter how pork laden or uncontitutional its purpose was

Bush was terrible, he will go down as the worst President ever. No-bama and Pelosi and Reid, will easily succeed in bankrupting the government overnight. By the end of his 2nd year in office there will be a huge debt that will make the cost of the bailout seem minor....he will tax the **** out of everyone making 75K, don't believe his bull**** of 250K as the limit, he will have lots of "new taxes" he isn't telling you about and they will hit the middle class, not the po' folks, they will be exempt, but the middle and upper class will get hammered like you have never seen. if this guy goes off the deep end, in wealth redistribution, he will be a one term wonder.
