I noticed some very erratic feeding patterns this past weekend. The heat seemed to have an effect on the consistency of the geese. Both fields that I hunted this weekend were close to the roost (within 3/4 of a mile), both fields had a good number of birds in them the night before, but the birds fed in fields further from the roost when we setup in the morning. The geese didn't even look at the field we were in, and the field they had fed in the nights before.

There are a lot of factors that may have contributed to this but I think that the most important one may have been the heat. In the heat of the afternoon it seemed that the birds preferred feeding close to the roost. In the mornings they flew further from the roost to feed. Any other takes on this?

I too have seen different trends with severe heat and geese feeding in the PM hours. They seem to only hop a few yards and call it quits.
