I've been talking to a very small audience on the SoDak duck forum so am 'importing'some thoughts to here.
Please consider reviewing this and helping-or at least thinking about it.Its a universal problem,not just a SoDak one.

All the more reason to become a predator hunter for those species that can be hunted (obviously I am not encouraging illegally killing hawks!!). I agree that there will be more predators concentrated but as the wildlife numbers dwindle, so will the predator numbers, naturally. Hopefully there can be some type of program figured out that will allow these prairie grasses to continue.

All the more reason to invest in more habitat on the ground and to contact local representatives and legislators and tell them how you feel.

I would be happy to help. Most won't give permission to hunt anymore is the problem though......
