This explains many things in our current social attitude. It's explains why 30 year old men look to government for mothering.

Plainsman,

I agree with this because if goes right along with the "everyone" wins a trophy mentality we have with our kids. Also the "helicopter" parents/grandparents. They dont let kids figure things out.... like how to cope with losing, how to cope with adversity... how to over come challenges... how to "mediate" or "confront" difficult things (I dont advocate fighting but sometimes you need to learn your "peaking" order or that you need to shut your mouth at times).... etc.

I mean just think about what I typed. Kids and now adults might never had to deal with a "loss" at a young age. Like losing in a sport, debate, event, etc. Because they always got "rewarded". Again... did they have to fight tooth and nail to make a "traveling team"... or to win a trophy/tee shirt... etc. Nope because 1st or Last place got the same thing just to make it "equal". Also I have seen first hand parents going to summer programs or schools and demanding or making another "travel" or "higher up" team just because their child didn't make the cut. (granted I have also see parent manipulate the process to get people on teams just because they didn't "like a kid" even though they were the better talent)... and stuff like that. Ask anyone who is involved in youth sports... that doesn't have kids can tell you the truth on all of this. talk to the officials and see what they think of it. YOUR EYES WILL BE OPENED UP BIG TIME....

Sorry to rant a little.... But it gets back to this point.... of we are now at that point in our life that these people are "making" decisions and some are elected to office. They have that mentality. Now I am right at the start of this generation at age 43 or the end of the other generation. Like I always say... if I came home from a practice and said... the coach was "mean" to me... my dad would have said... WHAT DID YOU DO WRONG. But now the parents response is... WELL THAT COACH IS WRONG WE SHOULD FIRE THEM. But anyways....

Here is a little thing that I always say to people when talking about stuff. Now take it with a grain of salt but...

"The world needs ditch diggers as much as they need CEO's. Also the world and progress needs to bash a baby seal in the head with a shovel to make progress to help everyone".

Basically it means this... you need to work in this world to make it go around not everyone can get a "hand out". Also that in order to make progress and help the core good you need to not always be nice. The world isn't always puppy dogs and rainbows.

Now I will say that I am seeing more parents not "coddle" their kids as much as I did in the past 10 years. So it gives me some hope. :thumb:

We humans learn to cope with what life throws at us via increased exposure to ever greater problems and responsibilities. It starts with simple things as a child and the problems get generally more difficult as we get older. As problems progressively get harder so does or ability to resolve them. However if that progression is interrupted by others solving our problems for us we never gain that experience or increase our ability to cope. When we hit 18-20 we are thrown into the world often with the level of ability to cope of a child and look at everything from that perspective. Since others have been resolving our problems the expectation is there that will continue. Unfortunately that is not how life works and they begin to look at a government that will support them and solve their problems

I thought that the cause of socialism was the Johnson and Johnson Vaccine.

Sadly what most supporters of socialism don't get is that it is just as subject to greed and corruption as any other form of government. Maybe even more so. Socialism wouldn't be a horrible form of government if all people could truly be equal. But mankind isn't civilized enough for that yet.

I fail to understand how people think that socialism can work. Humans and animals always want more.
