StarTribune newspaper quote:

Gov. Jesse Ventura doesn't think much of hunters using bait to attract bears to within shooting range -- a common practice in Minnesota and several other states. Ventura told an Associated Press reporter in Washington, D.C., that bear baiting is akin to assassination. "Going out there and putting jelly doughnuts down and Yogi comes up and sits there and thinks he's found the mother lode five days in a row -- and then you back-shoot him from a tree?" Ventura said in a recent interview.

"To me, that's not sport. I don't care what anybody says about that. That ain't sport -- that's an assassination," he said.

The quotes were in a story about a member of Congress from Virginia who wants to ban bear baiting on federal lands.

What would be next ? no duck hunting on Federal WPAs ? Killing them where they hatched is a baaaad thing don't you know. :eyeroll:

Ban firearms on federal grasslands ? :eyeroll:

Just because your favorite hunting activity is not on the hit list today ... it may be tomorrows target. Just ask MRN. While most of these things may burn in flames ... the idea that they even get started is disturbing.
